Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Black Lab Technologies ("Black Lab Technologies", "we", "us") handles information in Good Dog Alerting (the "Service") and on this website. Good Dog Alerting is used by businesses and government agencies. For information that an organization puts into the Service about its staff, we act on that organization's behalf and follow its instructions.
Information we collect
- Account information: names, usernames, email addresses and roles of the people who use the Service, plus their sign-in and second-factor settings.
- Contact information for notifications: email addresses and mobile phone numbers that an organization's administrators add so alarms reach on-call staff.
- Consent records: for each mobile number, the administrator who confirmed the person's agreement, when it was confirmed, and the exact wording they agreed to, along with any STOP or START replies.
- Message records: the texts and calls the Service sends, their delivery status, and replies such as ACK, HELP, STOP and START. Message text is deleted after a limited retention period.
- Alarm and configuration data: alarms from the organization's network equipment, its rules, sites and notes.
- Technical data: IP addresses, browser type and activity logs, used for security and troubleshooting.
This website doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To provide the Service, including sending the alarm notifications that an organization has set up.
- To honor opt-outs and keep proof of consent, as carriers and the law require.
- To secure the Service, prevent abuse and fraud, and fix problems.
- To provide support and tell administrators about changes to the Service.
We don't sell personal information, and we don't use it for advertising.
Mobile numbers and text messaging
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are excluded from all of the sharing described below; that information will not be shared with any third parties.
Mobile numbers are used only to send the alarm notifications the person agreed to receive, and to answer their HELP, STOP, START and ACK replies.
Who we share it with
Only as needed to run the Service, with:
- Service providers who process data for us under contract and confidentiality obligations: for example our hosting provider, and Twilio, which delivers texts and calls. Subject to the section above, they receive a number and message only to deliver it.
- The organization that added you: its administrators can see notification history and consent records for their own staff.
- Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect the rights, property or safety of people or the Service.
- A successor in a merger or acquisition, under this same policy.
How long we keep it
We keep information while an organization uses the Service, then delete it according to our agreement with that organization. Consent and opt-out records are kept for as long as the law and carrier rules require us to prove them. Message text is deleted after a limited period, while delivery records are kept.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to the Service requires a password and a second factor, and each organization's data is kept separate from every other's. Our support staff are a small group of named, screened people, each with their own account and second factor.
Your choices
- Reply STOP to any text to stop texts at once, and START to resume.
- Ask your organization's administrator to change or remove your contact information.
- Contact us at [email protected] to access, correct or delete information about you. If your information came from an organization, we may refer your request to it.
Children
The Service is for businesses and government agencies. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We'll post changes to this policy here with a new effective date, and tell administrators of material changes in advance.
